8 Days / 7 Nights Garden Route: Self Drive
Day 1:
Travel along the scenic coastal drive via Gordons Bay, Rooi Els & Kleinmond to Hermanus (home of the Southern Right Whale from June - November) Overnight at Auberge Provence in Hermanus (5 star) including breakfast.
Day 2:
Visit the historic town of Swellendam (3rd oldest in the country), stop off at the Aloe Factory in Albertinia. Overnight at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve near Mossel Bay (5 Star) including all meals & 1 game activitiy.
Day 3 & 4:
A short trip to the seaside town of Knysna, situated on South Africa's second largest estuary. Here you can enjoy a cruise to Featherbed Nature Reserve across the estuary, where you will take a tractor ride to the top of the Western side of the Knysna Heads. Take a stroll around the small-boat harbour. On Day 4 we suggest a visit to the upmarket resort town of Plettenberg Bay - visit the Elephant Sanctuary, Monkeyland & Bird Sanctuary & the sleepy coastal village of Natures Valley. Overnight at Fynbos Ridge Country House near Knysna (5 Star) including breakfast (2 nights).
Day 5:
Travel via Tsitsikamma National Park and visit the 800-year old Yellowwood Tree & the Bloukrans Bridge. Overnight at Woodall Country House & Spa in Addo (5 Star Guesthouse on the doorstep of the famous Addo Elephant National Park) including breakfast. Time to explore the Park.
Day 6:
After a morning visit to the Elephants you will head through the Langkloof, a valley known for its apple farms to the Ostrich Capital of South Africa, Oudtshoorn. Overnight at Rosenhof Country House in Oudtshoorn (5 Star) including breakfast.
Day 7:
After breakfast, a visit to the Cango Caves & Crocodile Farm and then onward via the valley of Wine & Cheese - the Breede River Valley & the semi-desert Little Karoo to the historical, peaceful town of Montagu - famous for its rock formations, orchards, vineyards & healing mineral springs. Overnight at Mimosa Lodge in Montagu (4 Star) including breakfast.
Day 8:
Visit the quaint French Huguenot town of Franschoek & the historical oak-lined streets of Stellenbosch - enjoy lunch in one of the charming streetside cafes & a wine-tasting in one of the many surrounding, scenic Wine Estates.
