Esikhotheni is home to 4 of the Big 5 & forms part of the Pongola Game Reserve. In the South, bordering on the famous Jozini Lake where the infamous Tiger Fish has eluded countless fishermen. Mkuze Falls - 5 Star Kwa Zulu Natal:
Mkuze Falls is situated in the heart of historic Zululand in KwaZulu-Natal & is one of only two Private Game Reserves in the region where you can view the 'Big 5' - lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, elephant and for bird lovers, nearly 400 species of birds are resident. The Lodge is located along the northern bank of the Mkuze River. Overlooking the Mkuze Waterfall, the lodge features nine luxuriously appointed thatched chalets and one safari suite, accommodating eighteen guests in utmost comfort and style. All these rooms have a breathtaking view of the river, bush and mountains. Private plunge-pools and an outside shower provide a wild but intimate touch.

Aquila Private Game Reserve- 4 Star Western Province:
Aquila Private Game Reserve is a luxury Big 5, safari lodge. A 2-hour scenic drive via the N1 from Cape Town, it is named after the rare and endangered Black Eagle that thrives in the area. Proclaimed a Private Nature Reserve in 1985, this 4 star, malaria free, 4, 500 hectare reserve is steeped in Khoi San and Boer War history and boasts 3 pristine biomes of vegetation set in the most magnificent Karoo mountains, valleys, rivers and kloofs. Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve: Garden Route
Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve offers 1300 hectares of indigenous beauty just 15 minutes from Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route in the Western Cape. Take a 2-hour game drive in an open landrover or a horse safari with an experienced guide and see the large variety of wildlife up close. The Baroness Game Lodge consists of 5 en-suite bedrooms. Dinner can be arranged where one of the game rangers will prepare a barbecue for you.

Kwa Madwala Game Reserve - 4 Star Mpumalanga:
Kwa Madwala is located in the province of Mpumalanga ("land of the rising sun"). Kwa Madwala lies on the southern side of the Kruger National Park. The reserve covers an area of 4000 hectares, and contains a stunning variety of wildlife including elephants, rhinos, lions and hippopotami. Kwa Madwala pioneered aerial safari flights, a unique close-up safari experience. Also available are elephant back safaris, enabling guests to see the wildlife from the back of these majestic creatures. Guests can stay in the beatiful Manyatta Rock Camp, with hilltop views of the landscape. Subtle lighting around the camp and footpaths connect all rooms to the swimming pool, boma dining decks, bar and viewing lounge deck. All 27 rooms are comfortable yet tastefully furnished and infused with elegant African touches. The bedrooms are air-conditioned and include a mini fridge.

Mhondoro Lodge - 5 Star Welgevonden Private Game Reserve: Limpopo Province
Welgevonden Private Game Reserve consists of 42 000 hectares of unspoiled African bushveld ranging from rocky outcrops where the leopards watch from their hidden crevices to wide open savannah where the herds of Zebra, Wildebeest and Impala abound. The Reserve is transected by the three main rivers that meander quietly through densly wooded areas on their way to joining the mighty Limpopo River. It is part of the larger United Waterberg Biosphere and is entirely Malaria Free. The en-suite bathrooms have a choice of indoor shower, hippo sized bath or a secluded outdoor shower where you can pelt yourself with steaming hot water.
